One of the most exciting stories heading into the 2026 Aerobic Gymnastics Junior World Championships and World Youth Championships comes from Panama.

After several years of remarkable growth on the Pan American stage, the Central American nation is set to make its World Gymnastics World Championships debut, marking a historic milestone for its Aerobic Gymnastics program. Panama will compete with 10 routines across the Youth and Junior competitions, taking another significant step in a development project that has quickly gained recognition throughout the Americas.

Although still a relatively new nation in the discipline, Panama has consistently improved its performances at continental events and now earns the opportunity to showcase its young talents against the world's best in Pamplona.

Before traveling to Spain, the Panamanian delegation will use the South American Championships in Argentina, taking place next week, as an important competitive test. The event will provide valuable international experience and help the athletes build rhythm and confidence ahead of their historic appearance on the world stage.

The recently released definitive registrations confirm that the championships will feature 38 national federations and an impressive 443 routines, making it one of the largest international Aerobic Gymnastics events of the year.

Leading the field is Romania, which will arrive in Spain with the largest delegation, entering 23 routines across the Youth and Junior competitions. Just one routine behind, host nation Spain and Portugal have each registered 22 routines, underlining their ambitions to challenge for the top positions in front of the home crowd.

Russia (21 routines), Argentina (20) and Mexico (20) also bring extensive programs, while traditional powers such as Hungary, Great Britain, Lithuania, Germany, Finland and Bulgaria will be well represented.

Among the American nations, Argentina and Mexico continue to lead in terms of participation, but Panama's debut adds a fresh and inspiring storyline to the championships. It reflects not only the country's recent progress but also the continued expansion of Aerobic Gymnastics across the continent.

From 4 to 6 September, Pamplona will welcome the next generation of aerobic gymnasts, combining established world powers with emerging nations eager to make history on the sport's biggest stage.
